Performance and Capability
There's a 2.5-liter engine under the hood of the new Subaru Forester that offers 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque, and it is paired with a Lineartronic® continuously variable transmission (CVT). The Forester is also available with a CVT that can mimic how a manual transmission operates, if you prefer.
Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive is standard, so you can appreciate having enhanced traction when the roads around Camden, NJ get slick with rain or ice. X-MODE® and Hill Descent Control are included with many trims to give you even better capability, and all the Forester SUVs in our lineup have Traction Control and Active Torque Vectoring.
The Wilderness Trim
A relatively new option is the Forester Wilderness. The Wilderness is a rugged model that lets you take things to the next level. For example, the regular Forester has a towing capacity of 1,500 pounds, but the Wilderness can handle a weight of up to 3,000 pounds. It also has a CVT with an eight-speed manual mode, rather than the seven-speed manual mode that other trims' CVTs have. It has a ground clearance of 9.2 inches, which puts it a half-inch taller than its counterparts. It also has black and anodized copper accents, enhanced raise roof rails and all-terrain tires.
Interior
The cabin seems fairly expansive, as it offers 39.4 inches of rear-seat leg room and has a cargo area with a volume of nearly 27 cubic feet. If you lower the rear seats down, this would expand your total cargo capacity to almost 70 cubic feet. Depending on the trim level, you can get cloth, sport cloth, StarTex® water-repellant or leather upholstery for the seating. You can stay warm when the cold weather comes to the Haddonfield, NJ area with available heated front seats, heated rear outboard seats and a heated steering wheel.
Technology
The Forester has keyless access with push-button start on all but the base trim level, and you can also enjoy power rear liftgate and driver's seat memory function on higher trims. All these little details can really enhance the everyday experience with a vehicle.
What you'll really appreciate is that this SUV comes standard with Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™ and SiriusXM®. The base trim has a 6.5-inch touchscreen, while the others have an 8.0-inch touchscreen. The Forester Touring even has built-in navigation that can show you live traffic, allowing you to avoid any congestion on your route. You and your passengers can also take advantage of the multiple USB ports throughout the cabin and available Wi-Fi capability to keep your devices charged and connected.
Safety
One thing that Subaru models are known for around Collingswood, NJ is their advanced safety systems. The Forester lives up to this reputation and has several driver-assist technologies constantly monitoring the road around you for any potential dangers. Pre-collision braking, adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning are some of the standard features that you can look forward to. The Forester is also available with reverse automatic braking, blind-spot detection and rear cross-traffic alert.
